Notes for a Faust/Evocations is a creative process that starts from Goethe’s opera and subsequent visions by Mann and Pessoa around the Faust figure to create its own vision inspired by the themes of the Sabbah and Evocation. Faust is a symbol of personal crisis and revolution. Plural in nature, he represents the plurality of contemporary society, brimming over with signs and symbols. He is the multiplicity described by Calvino in “Lezioni Americane”. The EVOCAZIONI Project aims at creating relationships. Our encounter with diary archive operatives showed us the importance of recovering the stories of people who lived in the past. Asking ourselves what we wished to evoke in our Faust’s witches dance and what would be most important to evoke today, we replied: stories, people, memories. Through EVOCAZIONI processes of construction and sharing, we hope to place minorities into dialogue with the rest of the community. Through research in the territory’s many stories linked to the roots of the community, we hope to unite the old generations with the young. Through the process of staging, we want to mix the language of experimental dance with storytelling, with everything in the dreamlike atmosphere.
The project has started on November 2017 during a residence in Anghiari DanceHub and it has grown up thanks to different residences in Teatro di Terranova Bracciolini (Kanterstrasse), Teatro Cilea of Reggio Calabria (Compagnia Scena Nuda) and Teatro la cartiera of Rovereto (Compagnia Abbondanza/ Bertoni), where a first presentation of the choreographic score took place during the OrienteOccidente Festival. The project will come back to residence context in Teatro Cilea di Reggio Calabria (Scena Nuda) and Cartiera of Rovereto on November 2019. Other partner are going to be selected in order to debut in 2020.

"Theirs is a kind of private dance, which mirrors alterations found within a couple. So much belongs to their being together on stage: a certain quality in their movement as though in conversation in which you can feel a tangible cosiness within the bodies of one and the other, there's a consenting awareness in their movements, you experience a dialogue of encounters and clashes within thoughts and physicality not only in their artistic work".
