Isadora Duncan said that ‘the gesture is born from desire’. Which desires move our bodies? Into what forms do we cage them? Under what judgements? How can we revolutionise the way we look at bodies? In the solo Suspended Chorus, choreographer Silvia Gribaudi takes the stage all by herself. But she is not alone. From her desire for collectivity and togetherness the work revolves around a renewed dialogue with the audience. Acknowledging the space she shares with the audience, spectators are invited to transform themselves into a suspended, fluctuating, plural and necessary chorus. They become an essential part of the work. Influenced by female dance pioneers like Pina Bausch, Isadora Duncan and Anna Pavlova, Gribaudi reflects on the limits of her body in its fifties and finds joy in its possibilities. Suspended Chorus deconstructs contemporary codes of beauty and exposes the mortality of the human body while celebrating the power of the collective. Everyone is an integral part of it.

Zebra

Zebra is a dance production organisation led by Chiara Frigo and Silvia Gribaudi. Its mission is to support the production and diffusion of Italian contemporary dance, through research and innovation of languages. At the core of its vision is the enhancement of dance as a tool for social cohesion and a bridge between creative experimentation and dialogue with local communities. In 2025 the company opens its doors to established and emerging choreographers, welcoming them as associate artists and contributing to the development of a new generation of makers. The associate artists are: Luna Cenere, Francesca Foscarini, Andrea Costanzo Martini, Elevator Bunker, Susi Danesin and Vittorio Porcelli (Under 25). With 14 years of activity, Zebra has consolidated its artistic credibility, demonstrating constant evolution, and remarkable reliability in managing public and private resources.

Silvia Gribaudi

Choreographer Silvia Gribaudi has centred her work around the social impact of the body and the relationship between audience and performer, through artistic research focused on choreographic language, dance, and humour. Her practice embraces dialogue and poetic encounters with the artists she collaborates with, as well as with communities and audiences, who become an integral part of each performance act. Her works have been presented in international theatres and festivals, including Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, The Holland Dance Festival in The Hague, Shanghai International Dance Center, CINARS in Montreal, Torinodanza Festival, the Venice Biennale, Bolzano Danza, Dansnät Sverige in Sweden, and La Biennale de Lyon. She is currently an associate artist at Le Gymnase CDCN (Roubaix, France) for 2024– 2026, and at the Teatro Stabile di Torino – Teatro Nazionale for 2025–2027.
