The hand has long been thought of as a conduit of power, transforming invisible energy into the world of form. The Latin term MANIFESTUS (clear, evident) contains the very word ‘manus’ (hand). To manifest is to declare ‘I AM HERE’; it is the moment we capture a fleeting fragment of reality and bring it into full display for the public, the open square, and the world around us. Thought, gesture, and imagination form an unbroken continuum. Hands create and shape both matter and ideas; they are the distinctive organ of humankind emancipated from the bonds of the animal world. They are eyeless faces, yet they see and speak. The choreography presents a trio exploring an abstract mode of representation. Blending non-narrative references with the codes of street dance, the performance carves out an articulated, high-energy space in constant flux, manifesting through dance within the current of the present.
